ABOUT CRYS

Hello and welcome to Playback Psychology! I'm Crys (she/her). I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, CCPA) and a Registered Psychologist (College of Alberta Psychologists, CAP). I am an enthusiastic human with insatiable curiosity. My practice is a blend of one part strange questions and one part careful listening. You will notice me in sessions hanging on your every word while simultaneously furiously writing notes.

I believe that therapy can be divine work, and that it has the ability to paint doors on the walls of rooms that at times, offered no way out. I am supremely honoured to be invited into the lives of the people I meet with and am continually humbled by the ability to partner with folks during difficult moments in their lives. I am a space holder, a secret keeper, and a mirror to reflect your most important hopes and dreams.

I identify as a Queer woman and us she/her pronouns. In my life away from work I am a mama to an awesome kiddo, an amateur baker, a growing yogi, and a person who has chosen sobriety. I watch cooking shows, read non fiction, and always order dessert.

I am a trauma-informed psychotherapist-in-training pursuing specialization in religious and spiritual trauma, identity development, and men’s emotional well-being. My therapeutic approach is rooted in compassionate, client-centred care, and inspired by modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory, body-based interventions, and mindfulness to help individuals navigate healing in a way that honours their unique experiences. With a background in theology and currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy and Spirituality, I am particularly attuned to the complexities of faith transitions and high-control religious environments, particularly at the intersections of trauma, neurodiversity, and gender and sexuality.

I believe in creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their lived experiences with authenticity and agency. Whether working with individuals processing religious trauma, men seeking deeper emotional integration, or those navigating anxiety, grief, and identity shifts, my approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and holistic. My goal is to help clients reconnect with their innate embodied wisdom, foster self-compassion, and build a sense of empowerment in their healing journey.

ABOUT JENESSA

I'm a paragraph. Click here to add your own text and edit me. It's easy.

Hello, I am Jenessa (she/her)I’m a counselling student therapist who offers a grounded, compassionate, client centred, and culturally responsive space for healing.

My approach is rooted in a decolonial, anti-oppressive, and feminist framework that honours the wisdom of the body, the power of storytelling, and the resilience of the communities we come from.I specialize in working with adults, adolescents, 2SLGBTQIA+ folks, and individuals navigating anxiety, burnout, neurodivergence, identity, trauma, and life transitions.

With a background in child and youth work, crisis response, and community mental health, I bring a relational and trauma-informed presence to our work together.I draw from mindfulness, somatic practices, collaborative approaches, and evidence-based modalities like Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Narrative Therapy and parts work. Whether we’re unpacking old narratives, regulating the nervous system, or reconnecting with joy and creativity, I meet you where you’re at—with curiosity, care, and collaboration.

Healing isn’t linear, and you don’t have to do it alone. I’d be honoured to walk alongside you.
